Daisy Daily for Week of April 17, 2017

Daisy Staff,

I do hope that everyone enjoyed a wonderful week last week.  I look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday morning.  I'm sure that our students and staff alike will have adventures to share : )

Finally, warmer weather has arrived here and there are signs of spring all around Daisy......

Hope that everyone is invigorated and ready for the week ahead.

A few notes re: this week:
  • In team meetings this week, we'll discuss progress toward SLO goals and any pressing issues of each team.
  • Lori Pill of the PTO is planning a Talent Show/"Singo de May" on May 5 as a fundraiser.  This is geared toward 3rd and 4th grade students.  Those students who have signed up will participate in auditions after school this week on Tuesday and Thursday from 3-4 pm in the cafe.  The office will distribute lists to teachers of students involved in this and on which day.
  • There is a PTO Meeting on Tuesday, April 18, at 7 pm in the cafe.
  • Department-Based PLCs will meet on Wednesday, April 19, after school from 3:15-4:15 pm.
  • Grade 3 Concert is scheduled for Thursday, April 27 at 6 pm.
  • Our Daisy Art Show/Ice Cream Social will take place on Friday, April 28, from 5-8 pm.
  • As always, please consult our Daisy Staff Calendar for all upcoming events:

IMPORTANT: Please help our staff members who supervise the cafe properly keep track of our students during lunch time.  If students will be leaving the cafe during lunch time (for lunch with teacher, lunch groups, etc.) please send a note with these children so that the adults can keep track of all students.

REMINDER:  If any staff member has not yet taken the "Blood-borne Pathogens" assessment, please visit our district site (under staff resources) and complete this ASAP.

Let's make it a great week!

DAISY DAILY FOR WEEK OF APRIL 3, 2017

Our Guests from China Have Arrived!

Our guests from China arrived late on Saturday afternoon:
11 students (in grades 4-6) with 5 adults.
We were delighted to welcome back Mr. Du (Shaowei), with his wife and son on this trip.  Earlier, Mr. Du had taught at Daisy for 4 months and lived with Ginny and Ed White during that time.
The adult guests include two translators and the Assistant Superintendent for the School District, Mr. Wang. (left).  Here, the group enjoys discussion with our Superintendent, Pat Ciccone, over a supper of pizza.
Our guests were introduced to their host families and we found online translation apps to be very useful.
