Daisy Daily for the Week of October 28, 2019

Thanks to all Staff Members who participated in BLUE & YELLOW Day last Friday to raise awareness for Down Syndrome.  So sorry that it got so busy at the end of the day with late buses that we weren't able to get together for a group photo.  But, thanks for the spirit and colorful display!

Please be sure to read the notice that went out to all Daisy Families and Staff last week regarding "Fall Fun" on October 31.  Please click on the link below:

FALL FUN 2019

Classroom teachers, PLEASE let office staff know which students will participate in alternate activities at 2 pm during the parade, so that we can plan accordingly.  This should be from communication with parents that their children would prefer to take part in an activity in the gym or the art room.

A few other notes about this week:
  • We are supporting five paraprofessionals who are going to Professional Development outside the district on Monday, so we will have substitutes and staff members providing coverage for them.  Thanks to all in advance for your flexibility!
  • There is a PDEC Meeting after school on Tuesday for those involved in the Westbrook High School Library.
  • Daisy PTO meets this Wednesday from 6-7 pm in the "Daisy Dining Room"  (aka cafe).
  • Team Meetings will take place as scheduled this week and we will be finalizing SLOs and goals.
Please remember to check our Daisy Staff Google Calendar regularly as we continue to update this calendar, daily, at:

DAISY STAFF GOOGLE CALENDAR

Reminder: Tuesday, November 5 (Election Day) is a full-day of Professional Development for Staff; no school for students.  A detailed schedule of Regional, as well as district PD, for certified staff as well as specific non-certified staff will be forthcoming.

Let's make it a great week!

Daisy Daily for the Week of October 14, 2019

Many thanks to our resident Polar Bear,
aka Helen Sweet, for hosting another fabulous Book Fair!

Daisy Staff,

Hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday weekend!  The fall weather lately has just been so delicious!

Thanks so much to everyone for all you did to make our Parent/Teacher Conference last week so informative for our families.  I applaud everyone's positive communication with parents and guardians and so appreciate your time, effort and commitment to our students.

This will be a very quick, four-day week, for sure.  Here are a few reminders:

  • We will review Student Data in Grade-Level Meetings this week with classroom teachers, specialists and support staff.
  • Daisy Leadership Team will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 8:00-8:30 am in the office.  I am asking PLC Leaders, Lead Teacher, and a representative from each grade-level team and special area team to join me on the Leadership Team.  Each team is asked to send a representative, which can be on a rotating basis.  We will set up monthly meetings dates at this meeting.
  • Wednesday, October 16, is PINK DAY for "Susan G. Komen for the Cure."  This annual fundraiser, organized by Heather Gersz, will support Breast Cancer Research.  Please consider wearing PINK on Wednesday!
  • We have Department-Based PLCs on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 3:15-4:15 pm.  Agendas will be sent out by PLC Leaders.
  • Daisy Run Club (in preparation for the Daisy Dash/5K) starts on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
  • Homework Room runs Mondays-Thursdays, 3-4 pm, for recommended third- and fourth-graders.
Let's make it a great week!
