The week of March 1 will be an exciting week, full of special events and activities, namely:
- Kick-off for "Read Across America Week"/Dr. Seuss's Birthday
- Opening of Virtual Book Fair, which will run through March 14.
- A number of students who have been remote since the beginning of the school year are coming back, in-person, on Monday, as well as Lynne Fischer's class, which was remote last week.
- Westbrook Staff Members are now eligible to participate in the Vaccine Clinics, set up by Superintendent Martineau and the Health Dept., and many are already signed up for Monday and throughout this week!
So...........
- Please re-read Vanessa Federico's email regarding the daily events for "Read Across America." She also sent out an email with the specific activities for Monday. All of the information has also gone out to families, both digitally and in hard copy. Adults--please participate in the Spirit Days along with our students, which will make it even more exciting for them! It's all about generating excitement around and a love of reading.
- Please re-read the Book Fair Notices that were sent out earlier to all staff members. This two week-virtual event is coordinated by Helen Sweet and Parent Krystle Jochim.
- Check the Daisy Google Calendar for Grade-Level Meetings and other events this week.
- Please know that Kate Cote's PreK classroom and Morgan Fair's 4th Grade classroom are both quarantined and will be working remotely until March 8. If you are a Special Area Teacher or Service Provider who works with students in these classrooms, please make arrangements to teach/service them remotely.
- As of this moment, we have 12 staff members either absent or teaching remotely tomorrow, so we will need to be flexible as we work through our day. We'll send out the plan for coverage, as usual, in the AM.
- Marking Period 2 ends Friday, March 5. I'll send out dates re: Report Card Distribution soon.
- We have exciting plans for Professional Development on March 12, which will include time for reviewing/evaluating student data, progress reports and report card collaboration, as well as some special SEL times for adults.
Let's make it a great week for our students and each other. When the going gets tough, please remember all the positives that we have going for us!
Warmly,
Ruth
