Daisy Daily for the Week of March 29, 2021

 Daisy Staff,

Hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather on Saturday!

It was a very busy, rainy Sunday, so I'm giving you the update for the week ahead in bullet form:
  • Michelle Tomek's Preschool Class will be working remotely from Mon., March 29, through Tues., April 6.  Michelle & Alyssa Liontonia will work remotely during this time.  Anyone who provides services to students in this classroom should make arrangements to work with these children remotely.
  • Teachers: Please remember to continue to check our Remote Learner Document that I shared with you previously, as it is continually updated.  We have a number of previously-remote learners who will join us in-person on Monday, March 29.  Classroom teachers have been notified, but special area and support staff should check this document as well.
  • PLAYGROUNDS: All playgrounds were inspected on Friday and some maintenance was completed on the K/1st Grade Playground.  We are making some further adjustments on this playground and anticipate it will be open for use mid-week.  When this is completed, we will issue a new playground rotation, giving all classes equitable access to the playgrounds that are age-appropriate, while reserving the Preschool Playground for our preschool students.  In the meantime, we are encouraging the use of the two crates of playground toys (on wheels) for outside use on both sides of the building.  Just as students wash/disinfect hands after use of playscapes, we remind all that the same should be happening after use of other playground equipment, balls, etc.
  • As always, please check the Daisy Google Calendar for meetings, events, etc., this week:
  • DAISY STAFF GOOGLE CALENDAR
  • Grade Level Meetings will take place as scheduled, as well as SRBI Meetings, PPTs, 504s, etc.
  • Grades 3 and 4 will participate in SBAC Interim Assessments, as scheduled.  Specific instructions will go out to these grade level teams.
  • Daisy PTO Meeting will take place virtually on Wednesday, March 31, 7-8 pm.  Staff members are encouraged to attend and the link is in our calendar.
  • Friday, April 2, is a Holiday (Good Friday) and the school building is closed.
As always, please let me know any concerns,
Ruth

Daisy Daily for the Week of March 8, 2021

       Daisy Staff,

Hope you enjoyed the weekend with your families.

What a busy week it was last week with Read Across America festivities and our Virtual Book Fair....and what a busy day it was today!

Here are a few updates for the week ahead:
      • Kate Cote's Preschool Class and Morgan Fair's 4th Grade Class will be back in school for in-person learning on Monday, March 8th, along with all staff members who were quarantined with these classrooms.  We look forward to welcoming you all back!
      • At the same time, on Monday, Lynne Fischer's 3rd Grade Class will move to Remote Learning for yet another quarantine, returning in-person on Tuesday, March 16.  All support services for these students should be provided remotely during this time.  I trust that you all saw both the email from Dr. Martineau regarding this quarantine and move to remote due to a positive individual in Ms. Fischer's class, as well as my email regarding same.
      • Coverage will continue to be a challenge with staff members out and we will update staff absences/coverage on Monday morning.
      • The virtual Book Fair will continue this week.
      • Grade-Level Meetings and other meetings will continue to take place, virtually, as scheduled on our Daisy Staff Google Calendar:
      • DAISY STAFF GOOGLE CALENDAR
      • Daisy Faculty members--as well as Paraprofessionals taking part in Google training-- will have the option to work remotely on our full day of Professional Development on Friday, March 12th.  I will send out the PD schedule for Faculty later this evening.  We have some very exciting offerings for both groups.
      • Please take some time to review the photos and videos from "Read Across America" that Vanessa Federico emailed out earlier, as well as to review photos on our Daisy Facebook page and website.  Likewise, please view Helen Sweet's Library website for exciting news and guest readers from our Virtual Book Fair.  Many thanks to Vanessa and Helen for all of their work on these important reading initiatives!
As we prepare for another busy week ahead, please reach out with any concerns, ideas or thoughts.

      Take care,
      Ruth
