Dear Daisy Friends,

Hoping that everyone enjoyed a wonderful weekend!

Here are a few highlights of the week ahead:

• Our Wednesday Staff Meeting will feature a presentation on "Dyslexia" by Madeline and members of our Special Education Staff.  All staff members are invited to attend.  We will start off our meeting with "Good News," so please feel free to bring some to share!
• The PTO's Father/Daughter Dance will be held this Friday, Feb. 5, in the cafe from 7-9 pm.
• Teachers--Please send a copy of your scheduled  Parent/Teacher Conferences to the office so that we can best support you during that time.
• Reminder---Please be careful of the 911 Emergency direct call button that is programmed on our new phones in all rooms.  We have had two accidental calls to 911.  IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU, PLEASE DO NOT HANG UP THE PHONE.  IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU STAY ON THE LINE AND REPORT IT AS A MISTAKE.  Troopers, etc., may still respond, but without sirens, etc. 
•  Please let me know any dates, etc., that need to be added to our calendar.

I certainly hope that you weathered the winter storm well this weekend!  We live in New England, so if it isn't your cup of tea, just wait..........temperatures of 40 degrees F are predicted for the week ahead.

I've decided to devote our School-Based PLC this Wednesday as a time to prep data for our February Parent/Teacher Conferences; score DRAs and other assessments; and complete data in SRBI documents on our students.  I believe that this will be a good use of our time.  Please let me know if you have any specific needs.

• Please join me in welcoming Westbrook Staff Member Ann Uihlein to Daisy.  She comes to us from WHS and will be serving as a Pre-school Paraprofessional, effective Monday, Jan. 11.
• Ryan is planning on returning to school on Thursday, Jan. 14.  He stopped by after school on Friday and many of us had a nice visit with him!  He says hello to all : )
• This week, we will plan on discussing student data in Grade-Level Team Meetings.  Please let me know other specific items you'd like to include on our agendas.  All meetings will take place in my office, as usual, with the exception of Grade 4, as we will meet in one of the classrooms.

Students and Families enjoyed pizza before embarking on the life-size game of "Clue" at Family Literacy Night.

Each student received a mystery book, flashlight and magnifying glass, compliments of our very generous Daisy PTO : )

DAISY DAILY----WEEK OF JANUARY 4, 2016

I hope that everyone has enjoyed a refreshing break, reconnecting with family and friends, and that you're ready for new adventures at Daisy in 2016!!!

We've got a lot to look forward to!  Here are a few highlights:

• Our Family Literacy Night is this Thursday, Jan. 7, from 5-7 pm.  Diana, Diane, Michele and Kim have been instrumental in preparing for this.  Please visit our "trailer" (movie) to promote it, which is on our website.  It's sure to be a very exciting night for our students and families as they play a giant, life-size game of CLUE to solve a mystery about reading.  Please consider coming to join us in the fun.  Pizza will be served, along with a short video explaining how to play the game at the beginning of the evening.
• Our new phone system has been installed and you'll find new phones in your classrooms/offices.  They're pretty user-friendly.  All extensions remain the same, with the addition of the digit "1" in advance of the 3-digit room code.  We'll provide instructions for setting up voicemail, etc.
• We now have a live feed for our Daisy Facebook Page on our school website.  You don't have to belong to Facebook to see this, so please check this out!
• Please take the time to welcome our students back--and each other--as we get back into the swing.  Getting back to our usual routines will be the best thing for our children!
