DAISY DAILY FOR WEEK OF MARCH 7, 2016

March 6, 2016

Daisy Friends,

I can't thank you all enough for the fabulous reading celebrations we hosted at Daisy last week.  From the opening of our "Groovy" Book Fair on Monday (and our very well-attended Family Night on Wednesday); along with a special cultural arts reading program hosted by the PTO; through "Reading Across America" events throughout the week, culminating in our "Groovy" day of reading on Friday, it was beyond belief!!!

Thank you to each one of you for your part in helping to motivate and engage our children in a love of reading.  Monumental kudos and appreciation go to Helen Sweet and Diane Lewis for supporting all of these special reading activities throughout the entire week!

It was wonderful to see our Superintendent, Pat Ciccone, interacting so naturally with our children on Friday (dressed in costume to boot!)  Please enjoy the pics below........

A few notes about this week (March 7, 2016):

  • We have our full-day PD on Friday, March 11.  Classroom teachers and Special Education teachers will have time to continue the specific work that each grade level has identified in the implementation of Reading Workshop, as well as to complete the analysis of a recommended Math Program for next school year.  A detailed schedule for the day will be forthcoming. Special Area Staff will participate in Regional PD.
  • Please plan to use your scheduled grade-level meeting time with me this week to work on Report Cards as I appreciate that the updates in PowerSchool may add another layer to your data entry.
  • Our Early Childhood Forum will be held on the evening of March 16 at Daisy.  I'm putting together a basket of books as a door prize from our school.  If you have a children's book that you'd like to donate, please let me know by  this Friday.
  • As always, please let me know your concerns.
