DAISY DAILY FOR WEEK OF FEBRUARY 13, 2017

February 12, 2017

Two of our fourth-graders were recently recognized by the
Connecticut Association of Schools for their artistic talents.
Thank you to our music and art teachers for choosing
Ethan Dazey for his musical talent and
Dayana Portillo for her artistic talents.

Our 100th Day of School Assembly was even more special
due to our very entertaining magician friend, Bob Hale.
Thanks so much to Lesley Harrington for planning this special assembly for all of us!

Daisy Friends,

What wild weather we've been experiencing lately.  Let's see if we can get a full week in before Winter Vacation next week. : )

OUR STAFF CALENDAR:

  • Please know that I continue to update this calendar throughout the week as we make revisions to our calendar, such as when we have a snow day.  When that happens, we make a change in our rotating schedule so that we don't miss a day in rotation.  Rather, the missed day skips to the next day of school.
A FEW NOTES ABOUT THIS WEEK:

  • The Report Card Committee will meet Tuesday at 8 am.
  • The BOE Meeting on Tuesday evening (beginning at 7 pm) will feature a Budget Workshop.
  • On Wednesday, we have District-wide PLCs from 3:15-4:15 pm.  Classroom teachers will all meet in the ELA PLC that day with Diane Lewis.
  • Our student inventors will set up their "Invention Convention" on Thursday from 9:00-10:30 am in the cafe.  Teachers will have the opportunity to bring their classes by to view the inventions.  Thanks so much to Amory Blackwell for taking on this wonderful project!
  • Our Westbrook High School readers have rescheduled for this Friday, Feb. 17, from 10:00-11:00 am.  I would love to see all of our classrooms involved in this.  Classroom teachers--if your students have a special during that time, please coordinate with the special area teacher re: hosting a guest reader during special.  The readers will take less than 30 minutes, so please sign up in the office for 10:00-10:30 or 10:30-11:00.
  • February Vacation Week is Feb. 20-24.  Feb. 20 is a holiday (Presidents Day) and school will be closed.  The office will be open Tuesday through Friday (Feb. 21 through 24) and we will also host the Park/Rec Camp during that time.  In addition, Helen Sweet and her volunteers are planning on setting up the Book Fair on Friday, Feb. 24.
  • "Happy Camper" Book Fair takes place Feb. 27 through March 2, with Family Night on Wed., March 1.  "Read Across America" will also take place that week, with the same theme.
  • The PTO "Father/Daughter Dance" aka "Special Someone" Dance will take place on Friday, March 3.
  • Please refer to the calendar link for additional dates and please forward me additional information that you'd like added to our Staff Calendar.
Thanks and let's make it a great week!

Ruth
