Daisy Daily for Week of September 11, 2017

Daisy Staff,

Welcome to our first full week of school!

Thanks so much for all you have all done to make our first two (three-day) weeks of school with our students so successful!

Kindergarten Orientation with our Daisy Families.

Please continue to check our Staff Google Calendar for all important dates/events as this is updated constantly:

DAISY STAFF CALENDAR

Please bookmark this calendar on your electronic devices and check back regularly.  Please also send me important dates that should appear on our staff calendar for the good of all.

A few things about the week ahead:
  • I'm delighted to let you know that Alicia Adinolfi, who has transferred from the Westbrook High School office will now be with us full-time in the Daisy office.  Alicia and Jackie make an awesome Administrative Assistant team and I feel so grateful to have both with us!

Alicia & Jackie
  • We'll be meeting in grade-level teams this week, in the office.  Please consult the Daisy Staff Google Calendar for scheduled times.
  • The Board of Education will meet this Tuesday at 7 pm in the Westbrook High School Library.  New staff members have been invited to the meeting.
  • We'll have our first Department PLCs this Wednesday from 3:15-4:15 pm.  You will receive agendas from PLC Leaders, if you haven't already.
  • Our Daisy PTO Family Picnic is also scheduled for this Wednesday, from 5-7 pm, with a raindate of Friday, Sept. 15.
  • Our Open House Breakfasts for each grade level have been set and invitations have gone out to families.  Please consult the calendar for days/times.
  • School photos will be taken on September 19 and 20th.
  • Westbrook Fire Department will be visiting with safety presentations for all grade levels soon.  Please sign up in the office for time slots.
  • Several staff members have already signed up for Restorative Practice Training.  Please check the dates in the e-mail that Pat and I both sent out to you and let me know when you'd like to attend.  We want to strategically plan to get all staff members trained without too many staff members out at any one time.
  • As always, please let me know your concerns and ideas!
Wishing you a wonderful week!

Ruth

Morning Meeting in a Second-Grade Classroom.

It was a beautiful day for the "Closer to Free" Bike Ride on Saturday.
This amazing event featured 1,700 bikers who raised more than $3 million dollars for cancer patients and research at Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven.
Thanks to all who supported Teri and me in this effort!!!
Your kind words of encouragement as well as monetary support are so much appreciated!!!
