Daisy Daily for Week of February 5, 2018

Daisy Friends,

Hope you're having a great weekend and that you enjoy the Super Bowl, if you're so inclined!

We're coming up on Parent/Conference Week with early dismissal for Conferences on Tuesday and Thursday of this week.  If you haven't already sent your schedule of conferences to the office, please do so and please line up support staff that you'd like to invite to your conferences (including me).

A few things about this week:

  • Daisy Leadership Team Mtg. is scheduled for Mon. at 8 am.
  • No grade-level meetings due to Conferences and early dismissals.
  • No after-school meeting on Wed.
  • 1 pm Dismissal on Tues. and Thurs.
  • 100th Day of School is Friday.  We'll host an all-school assembly at 10 am in the gym.  (In an effort to schedule assemblies at different times of the day out of respect for all grade-levels, rather than first thing in the morning or end of the day, we're scheduling a 10 am spot this time.)
  • IMPORTANT---Lesley Harrington is highlighting "100 days of learning" at our assembly with a slideshow, as well as mentioning new learning of students and adults.  If YOU have done something interesting to extend your own learning (taken classes in Chinese, woodworking, art, etc., or have earned an additional degree--or are working on a Masters, etc.,) please let us know!  It doesn't have to be a formal degree program, but ANY kind of new learning.  We want to show our students that adults are always learning new things as well!  Please share any good news about a colleague (who might be too shy) with me as well!  The sky's the limit on this one and I will always respect the person by asking permission to highlight this new learning.  THANKS!
  • PTO "Sweethearts" Dance is this Friday evening in the cafe.
On another note, thanks to ALL staff members who attended Restorative Practice Training last week, as well as in January.  (Actually, this is a new piece of learning for our entire staff, which I'll highlight at our assembly as well.) I'm looking for a few "testimonials" from staff members who have tried out pieces of it with students and colleagues or maybe just a word about what excites you about Restorative Practices.

I'm sharing with parents/guardians why this work is so important and I want them to hear from YOU, not just me.  A sentence or two is sufficient as I'd like to keep this in our website news and in conversations with families.  Let me know what's worked and what you're interested in trying.  We'll also keep this as an agenda items at future staff meetings.

As always, please check our DAISY STAFF CALENDAR for all important dates and events, at:

DAISY STAFF CALENDAR

Let's make it a great week, and as always, please let me know any concerns.....

Ruth

Thanks to the PTO for sponsoring another presentation from Theatre Works last Friday.
Everyone enjoyed the inspirational story of "Skippyjon Jones and Snow What?"
