Daisy Daily for the Week of October 15, 2018

Walk/Bike to School, October 2018:
What a successful event!!!
Thanks to all of our staff members who joined us!!!

Daisy Staff,

As we look forward to the week ahead, please check our Daisy Staff Google Calendar for all important dates, times, etc., at:

A few highlights:
  • Grade-Level Meetings will take place this week, as scheduled.
  • Leadership Team will meet on Tuesday at 8 am in my office.
  • Department-based PLCs will take place on Wednesday, after school, from 3:15-4:15 pm.  Agendas will be forthcoming.
  • Special Area Team will meet on Friday at 8 am in my office.
  • We have two valued guest readers from the Westbrook community who would like to continue reading in our classrooms.  Please let me know (via e-mail) if you'd like to welcome Steve Mazeau and/or Lynn Nathan to come into your classroom to read to your class or to read 1:1 with students or in small groups.  They are both lovely and a wonderful addition to our school community.  Here is their availability:
    • Mr. Mazeau: Tuesdays, 9-10 am
    • Mrs. Nathan: Thursdays, 9-11 am
  • If you haven't yet had a chance to join "Sunshine," please consider doing so.  : )
  • October is the month for both Down Syndrome Awareness and Breast Cancer Awareness.  We will recognize:
    • Down Syndrome Awareness on Friday, Oct. 19
    • Breast Cancer Awareness on Friday, Oct. 26
  • Details on both to follow.  These are intended to be awareness activities for the adults in the building.  We will plan to recognize International Down Syndrome Awareness Day (March 21) with our students and staff as we did last year with
    "Crazy Socks Day."
As always, please let me know your concerns and needs.  Let's make it a great week, as we are finally enjoying some fall weather!

Warmly,
Ruth
