Daisy Daily for the Week of April 29, 2019

Daisy Staff,

Thanks to all for a great week last week!  We celebrated Earth Week in a variety of ways at each grade level and the celebration will continue this week in Grade 2.

Our Daisy Annual Art Show was extremely well-attended on Friday night, despite the rain. Thanks so much to Joe Biegaj for all his hard work and talents in getting our students' art work ready for the event!

Thanks, also, to so many staff members who joined us for the Art Show and for serving our students and families at the Ice Cream Social.  A great time was had by all!

During Grade-Level Meetings this week, I am asking teachers to prepare Placement Cards for our students, as we will begin to construct Classroom Groupings for next year at Grade-Level Meetings during the week of May 6.  Blank placement cards will be available in the office by Tuesday morning.

Important events this week and the weeks ahead:
  • Monday, April 29: Second graders will participate in a composting activity for Earth Day, at times as noted on our Staff Google Calendar.
  • Wednesday, May 1: Faculty Meeting, 3:15-4:15 pm in Cafe.
  • Friday, May 3: Our valued Paraprofessionals will be treated to an Appreciation Luncheon, put on by our teachers.  The luncheon will take place from 12:45-1:45 pm in the Staff Lunch Room and coverage will be provided.  Details to follow!
  • SBAC Assessments for third- and fourth-graders are scheduled to take place the weeks of May 6 and 13.
  • The Annual Vote on the Town Budget will take place on Tuesday, May 7th, at 7 pm at Westbrook High School auditorium.
  • Fourth Grade Promotion is scheduled for Fri., June 14, at 9:15 am,  with the last day of school for students and staff on Mon., June 17.  (The last three days of school feature student dismissal at 1 pm.)
