DAISY DAILY FOR WEEK OF MAY 16, 2016

Our Annual Bike/Walk to School Day
Was a Marvelous Success!!!

May 15, 2016

As we start another week at Daisy, I'd like to share some updates with you:
  • Thanks to ALL who helped to make our first week of SBAC Testing so successful!  Our 3rd and 4th graders took the ELA sections of the assessment last week and will take the Math sections of SBAC this week.  Please consult the schedule that was distributed via Google doc for any schedule changes (lunch/recess times, etc.)  I so appreciate the work of our proctors as well as everyone else who has helped to accommodate this testing.
  • Thanks to all who responded to my invitation to serve on a Scheduling Committee.  The first meeting of this group will take place at 8 am on Monday in my office.  All who responded by Friday are included on this committee and I will be happy to accept more staff members in order to represent all segments of our population.  If you are interested and haven't yet responded, please let me know ASAP.
  • We will have an all-school assembly on Monday morning at 9:30 am entitled: "Kid Power's Operation Lunch Line 3D." This show is about eating healthy and feeling great and contains a 3D visual tour of the human body, emphasizing anatomy, humor and feeling good.  This presentation will take place in the gym.  (Only make-ups for SBAC are scheduled for Monday, before and after the 9:30 am performance. Kim is working with proctors to schedule these.)
  • Thanks to all who participated in reviewing Placement Cards in Team Meetings last week.  The updated, color-coded forms will be available in the office this week for classroom teachers.  We will continue our work with placement this week.
  • Please know that Julie Silva's resignation was accepted at last week's Board of Education Meeting.  Julie made the decision to stay home for an extended time with her two children and asked that I share this with her colleagues.
  • Unfortunately, Lori Salisbury's father-in-law passed away last week.  I know that you will share with me in expressing your condolences to her.  The family is planning services, etc., and I'll let you know when Lori has more information to share.
Please read on for events of the weeks ahead.........
